The book includes 26 English and 2 French texts written by 35 archaeologists-excavators of 32 Greek colonies around the Black Sea. This research renews interest in Greek colonization,

particularly in Euxeinos Pontos. For the first time new archaeological materials from all around

the Circumpontic region have been concentrated in a unique publication. The material has been

studied directly by the excavators, making this a unique example of hands-on research. The introduction to the ancient Greek Colonization of the Euxeinos Pontos is written by E. K. Petropoulos, Ph.D in Ancient History from the M.V. Lomonosov State University of Moscow,

an expert in the history and archaeology of the area and its people.

Elias K. Petropoulos is a Lecturer at the Department of Languages, Literature

and Civilization of the Countries around the Black Sea,

Democritus University of Thrace. (e-mail: elias_p@otenet.gr).
